Looking for Potential

Capturing Experience

Lately, I've found enjoyment in imposing a few constraints in my image explorations. The works derive solely from studying a singular time and place – whether it be a time and place associated with and belonging to a person or a general time and place that I intuitively believe will be fertile ground for meaningful finds. I refer to the resulting imagery as "finds" rather than "subject matter" as I have no idea what it is that will prove intriguing.

Core

Core Power

Someday, perhaps, I'll write something about the core. When I do, I might write to find the core to be the very thing. I'll make no professions in regards to knowing anything definitive about it. But I think, providing the time is right, it will be worth a thought. I might think about core values, core issues, core temps, core strength. We exercise about the core. We know it matters. It's what becomes the tree – letting branches reach the sky. And the leaves to behave like little trees, mimicking the parent. The core allows roots to run long, providing nourishment – and the strength to withstand. The core might just be the secret. If there is structure there must be core...

Natural DeCollection

Today I begin a new series. Natural DeCollection. I'll be seeking things natural – not all things, but just things that speak to me in some way. I'll be on the lookout for discards, yes. Things in their natural, decaying state. I'll honor their true form, but I won't rule out some manipulation. The things discovered will certainly be hero. I can't compete. I can only enhance – at least that's the intent.
